Draft Lottery

Regular Season – 84 games, play each team within your league 12 times (7x12=84)

4 of 8 teams make the playoffs. Both rounds are 9 game series.

Either one or two teams get promoted from Bronze and Silver leagues every season. Promotion occurs for the team that finishes first overall during the regular season as well as for the team that wins the league championship. If the first place team wins the championship, then only one team is promoted from that league for that season. The bottom one or two teams (depending on how many are getting promoted from the league below) in Gold and Silver get relegated.

Customized financial system that is driven purely off of a rolling five year point accumulation system that drives media revenue as the sole source of revenue. There are no ticket sales and there is no merchandising revenue. The better you perform over the rolling five years, the more revenue you will receive. As set up, it should provide a decent degree of financial parity while rewarding successful franchises. Please refer to the Constitution for a more detailed explanation of how finances will work.

**Please note these modifications from Default:**
• Injury Frequency - Low (works better given short season)
• Rotation size - Four versus default five
• Pitcher stamina - Normal (rather than low in modern day MLB leagues)
• Active Roster Size - 24 versus default 25
• Secondary Roster Size - 35 (non-material change as there's no Rule V Draft)

This league provides a very engaging experience and financial resource management is critical to success. The playoff setup keeps the season interesting even if your team is struggling as it should only take a ~.500 record or so to make the playoffs. The season is short enough that a rebuilding team will be able to remain engaged. The draft is also orchestrated to reward teams that are doing everything they can to find that extra piece whether through free agency, on the waiver wire, or in their own minor league system that will get them a few extra wins (no more coasting to an easy rebuild but still friendly enough to allow weaker teams to improve). Finally, the financial setup along with no cash cap insures that all decisions count. Will you focus resources on player development, coaching, international amateurs or the players on the field...how will you deal with the overpriced, aging vet who is hogging your precious cash resources?

We have in opening in St. Louis, team is at risk for relegation to Bronze so great for anyone who wants to take a team from the bottom to top. We just concluded the regular season and will be entering playoffs shortly, so great time to get involved. Long standing league going on 3.5 real life years.

We have filled St. Louis, but are looking for a GM to fill our Columbus Blue Jackets vacancy. Off-season just underway so great time to join.

The Blue Jackets have a fantastic pitching staff with one of the best pitchers in the game in Jorge Martinez. As a Bronze team, they made the playoffs last season, but were swept in the first round. The primary challenge for this club is navigating their financial situation in order to provide salary room to keep the club's top talent without sacrificing the team's long term competitiveness.

Email if interested. (email is in first post)

We have an opening in Minnesota. Team has been run by the same GM for quite a long while but have had trouble getting out of the Bronze League. There are very few expensive contracts on the book and most of the team's contracts are expiring in the near future, so you can essentially do a clean slate rebuild with loads of financial flexibility. Team is middle of the road in terms of prospect strength, so a good starting position to work from.

Email is best (see first post)

We have an opening. We have a few weeks left in the 2034 season so a great time to get in and familiarize yourself with the team ahead of the upcoming off-season. Email is best (see first post).

Dallas Stars:
After a quick start way back during the inaugural period of the league that saw Dallas win Bronze and Gold Championships over a 3 year period, the Stars have been mired in a long period of complete ineptitude. The team found itself demoted to Bronze in the 2020 season and they have been stuck there ever since. That’s fifteen consecutive seasons! The fans have had enough and it is time for a new GM to come in and revitalize a franchise that had gotten off to such a great start in the PBDL universe. In the current 2034 season, the team once again finds itself pinned towards the bottom of the standings. The team has a couple interesting major league pieces including an excellent third basemen in Tyler Price who, at the young age of 26 years old, will be a nice piece for a new GM to start building around. Despite many top four draft picks over the years, the team has struggled to develop young players leaving the club with a very weak prospect system. On the bright side, the team has $5 million in cash, which will provide flexibility to get the right coaches in place and explore the international amateur free agency market if desired. The road to success could be a long one with this franchise and so finding a patient GM with a long term vision is a must.

Still looking, Anaheim is coming off a championship season in Bronze so they have some talent.

greenrebellion 06-27-2016 09:54 AM

We have an opening in Columbus. We'll be moving to OOTP 17 in a month, so ideally prospective GM's will have both versions of the game. We've been around for four real life years now, so join with confidence!

Email me if interested.

Team Status:
Columbus is coming off a last place finish in the Bronze league, so this is a true zero to hero rebuild project. As a franchise, the team has certainly struggled throughout the majority of the league’s existence. The team has never finished in first place, has spent 20+ seasons in bronze (out of 24) and only has one Bronze championship to its name. This team has simply never had the GM nurturing required to truly build a contender at any level. The team has an average prospect pool, tons of cash and no bad long term contracts...so a new GM can actively work to build a foundation right from the start. Plus, it never hurts to have one of the top pitchers in the game in his prime to build around in Jorge Martinez.
