Can I DH Ohtani?
If yes, than how?

Set player strategy to force start at DH
|
I believe if you set him as DH and SP (go into Player Strategy and set to 2-way player), the game will pull him from the DH spot when he's pitching. You can't have him as RP/hitter as the game will never let him pitch.
|
I've had him as RP and hitter before and he does both. But if you put him at DH and RP he'll never get tired from batting so will never pitch (unless you set rests).

Please post a diagram!

I hit some use AI button and Ohtani is my DH and a Starting pitcher. I expect him to suck at both. Relegation here I come!

2) Select Set Game Strategy. 3) On the bottom right, if the player meets whatever the requirements for a 2-way player are, there's a checkbox for setting as a two-way player. 4) The player will now be on both the Lineups and Pitching screen. Set them up however you want. The player will now have 2 fatigue ratings, one for batting and one for pitching. If you set a player as a starting batter in both lineups, he will only pitch when he's a SP (a RP will never actually pitch if they are also set as a full-time starting batter). They won't bat the pitching day and I believe the day after. The rest of the time they will bat. If you set them as a starter in 1 lineup or a backup, I believe you can set them as a RP and they will occasionally be used when they aren't batting. They'll never bat and pitch in the same game, as far as I know. |
When creating your lineup select ALL players to view not just batters. Select Ohtani to be your DH.

Thanks! Got it, Ohtani suck in both roles.

This is unfortunate, as I actually had some niche roles he could play on my team as it is currently constructed as a backup 1B against LHP (59 Contact and 77 Gap Power) and Pinch Runner (56/68/51 on the running ratings, which while not great is better than most of my team). |
