Claressa Shields, champion

T-Rex pummeled previously unbeaten Nikki Adler for the WBC and IBF Super Middie titles last night. Christina Hammer was in attendance and smack talked Shields after the fight. I'm guessing Shields will take another fight or two before matching up with Hammer.

Yeah I saw that too & they said what I saw Ice Tea wrote a while back, not much talent in the SMW division for women right now.

The SMW division of women's boxing is barren. Shields will have to move down to middle where there are Hammer and a few others. Hammer is going to fight in NYC in December and then Shields in Detroit in 2018 if everything goes right. Adler is a (4) in the game and that's pushing it.

Mayweather Promotions signed Savannah Marshall who is the only fighter to defeat Shields as an amateur. Shields was (87-1) in the unpaid ranks. Marchall is making her professional debut on The Money Fight card later this month.

Ice Tea, do you have the entire rating of Shields posted?

I saw you did some tweaks & I think now she's an 8.

Shields made easy work of Tori Nelson last night, winning 100-90 on all three cards.

Christina Hammer was again in attendance. After the fight, Shields said of her; "I think she's pretty scared, to be honest. She's more worried about me than I am her."

IceTea 01-13-2018 11:31 AM

I was at the fight. Shields is in no condition to deal with Christina Hammer at this point.

Interesting, yeah I was surprised how tall she was standing next to Farhood. I'm sure she's in heels but she still looked tall.

If she's a slick boxer I can see her giving Shields problems.

Last night they said Shields might even drop to 154 eventually.

She basically fights like Wlad did early in his career - lots of movement with the jab and cross.

Shields scored her first knockdown in a lopsided unanimous decision over Ivana Habazin last night

Easy fight.

She might take some tough fights if there were any to be had

yeah she's looking for both titles & worthy opponents in 3 weight classes & also talking about fighting UFC's Nunes.

The second best fighter from super-welterweight through super-middleweight is Christina Hammer and Shields already won eight of ten rounds against her. Savannah Marshall, who defeated Shields in the amateurs, will fight Shields at the end of 2020 and she's solid, but will be a huge underdog.

yeah she sure did - I thought/hoped it was going to be a better fight.

Claressa Shields’ domination of Ivana Habazin drew lower viewership than her prior appearance on Showtime.

Nielsen Media Research revealed Tuesday that a peak audience of 288,000 watched Showtime’s telecast of the Shields-Habazin fight Friday night from Atlantic City, New Jersey. The average viewership for their 10-round, 154-pound championship match was 255,000.

The peak and average viewership figures for Shields’ previous fight on Showtime, an easy victory over Germany’s Christina Hammer in a 10-round, 160-pound title bout April 13 in Atlantic City, were 369,000 and 339,000, respectively. The Shields-Hammer match was a more significant middleweight title unification fight and aired on a Saturday night, when viewership for boxing broadcasts typically is higher than on Friday nights.

She's talked about equal pay for female fighters but she'll need much better numbers than these if she wants to be paid on the same level as top male boxers.

Laila Ali says she'll come out of retirement to fight Shields if the money is good enough

Interesting, I wonder at what weight? I think Ali was always SMW but Shields has been collecting belts going down in weight.
