I was reading a negative review of Hoosiers that claims the movie is a celebration of segregation all white basketball. This seems like a pretty PC analysis to me. So there are no good sports stories pre Jackie Robinson?

Sounds like a reviewer is trying to stir controversy to make him/her self relevant. Or is just stupid.

Speaking as a "man of color", I get what he is saying. When I watch those movies, sometimes it creeps into my mind the background of those true stories. The SEC network is currently running a docu on the history of football in the south. This would normally be a topic right up my alley. But when I think of how those schools denied non-whites from playing and attending schools because of some false vision of superiority, I look at those stories of triumph as some kind of passive aggressive propaganda for right wing nationalism.

W/Hoosiers, most of the nation is unaware Indiana once had the most members in the KKK than any other state. The Klan @ one time ran the Indiana government. You couldn't get elected without kissing the Grand Dragon's ring. That's the soil from which a situation like Hoosiers bloomed. So did the creators of the movie have that in the back of their minds? Did they erase any facts alluding to it from the script? Could that have been the reason the team had the makeup that it did?

I personally don't think producers had any agenda when they made the movie. They saw a good story and made it happen. But I've never seen it. Cause I know the story behind the story. I personally find celebrating the accomplishments of such an era distasteful. But at the same time, I don't judge anyone who enjoys a movie like that. These are my own personal principles. And I don't think the critic is being PC with his take. He is probably more sensitive to the subconscious psychological meaning of the good guy sporting the white hat while the bad guy is wearing black.

If you wanna write a fictional story then i can agree with it but if its a historical or even fictional based on historical i dont.
Sometimes a movie is just a movie.

Hoosiers is entirely fictional. The team it was inspired by wasn't an unknown or an underdog. They had been to the state semis the year before and were heavy favorites in the tournament.

It's easy to see it as a celebration of segregated basketball. Note that Hickory beats an integrated team in the finals. IRL, there were no integrated teams in Indiana at that time.

I don't know whether there were any integrated teams in Indiana around the time of Hoosiers but all-black schools were allowed to compete in the state basketball tournament beginning in 1942. The year after the team on which Hoosiers was based won the state title an all-black school from Indianapolis won it. Its star player was future NBA great Oscar Robertson.
