League Rules

I set up a custom 20 league team with 2 conferences and 2 divisions of 5 teams each. My playoff structure is just 2 teams per conference or 4 division winners. I just realized that I have accidently set my playoffs to 4 game total goal series instead of Best of 7's. I realize I can change rules on July 1st, and I have reached that point.... How do I change this.

There's no way to change the playoff rules (beyond a couple of overtime settings) right now - what's selected at start is permanent. We're going to have to make some additions to the editing interface before we can enable that type of edits.

I realize we're beating a dead horse here, but allowing a similar level of customization a la OOTP can only make the game better. Everything Jeff has written so far always mentions words like "This isn't available in the game...right now" which is encouraging. Just small things like being able to create custom leagues that aren't a close mirror to the NHL would be a huge plus. Being able to do custom promotion/relegation leagues, incorporate all star games or all team rookies or similar awards for custom games would be great too. Creating the foundation can only help support historical modes which can have wonky workarounds at the moment for things like farm teams.

The schedule generator seems to work great. I love that I can define the amount of conference/division games. Not even OOTP can do that!!!

As a fan of the fictional side as well, I understand where you're coming from on that. But just keep in mind, this is only the 4th version of the game, and OOTP is in its 18th release. It's going to take a while before they've built up FHM to do all the things that both we want, and what they want. Honestly the fictional side has come a long way in a short period of time, and as they develop more features to use in the modern side, it goes into the fictional and historical modes, too.

As the devs will explain, what may not be there right now could be there in the future, they just have to set things up for that first. And that's going to take time especially with everything else they've got to work on with a small team to do it all. Just gotta give them a bit of a break and appreciate what we do have for now.

I set up another 20 team custom game and even though I double checked my settings for a best of 7 playoff, I still see the playoffs being set for a 4 game total goal.

Edit: just checked the AHL and CHL set ups, because I set the AHL to 2 teams per conference, the playoffs are 4 game total goal series, while the CHL has 8 teams in the playoffs and they are Best of 7's.
