MLB Manager 2017 allowed P to also DH
 

I am playing the 2019 Angels and am experimenting with ways to use Shohei Ohtani.

In a game where he is the starting pitcher, I was able to insert him into the starting lineup as the DH, too, which I’m reasonably sure violates MLB rules.

The game’s AI does not use Shohei Ohtani the way the Angels are, which is in the starting rotation and DH 3x per week. If you are managing the Angels, you can adjust the depth charts and laboriously insert a pitcher as the DH. But if you’re managing any other team, you can’t adjust the Angels’ depth charts and have it save for longer than the current day. You must also bat Ohtani 9th when he pitches in interleague games unless you want to start the game with a double switch.

In real life, Ohtani is going to bat 300 or more times this year, but in any sim of 2018 when the AI manages him, he’ll barely hit at all. It’d be good to see the game handle him better.
