Hey all, I'm starting a career simulation of Sean "The Mayor" Casey. I started in 1994, the season before he is drafted in the game. In November, he was selected by the Boston Red Sox as the 11th overall pick and assigned to Paw Sox at the beginning of the 1995 campaign.

In game one, Casey went 0 for 2 but drew three walks, swiped a base, and got caught stealing one. He's batting leadoff and playing first base. The Paw Sox dropped the game, but we're following wherever he goes and simulating every at bat of his entire career. More updates to come.

For years I've found the most entertaining way to play OOTP is creating fictional leagues. It's just fun to literally write history and watch it come alive in front of you. I also grew up in a small town in Ohio between Fort Wayne, Indiana and Toledo, Ohio....and I've been fascinated for the years by the "what if" knowing that the first professional game was in Fort Wayne. There can't be a smaller town in America that at one time meant so much to TWO different sports...even if their time in both was pretty brief. So with all of that said, I introduce to you....the United Baseball League.

Founded in 1876 the UBL at the start consisted of 2 separate and NO WHERE CLOSE to equal leagues...the Eastern League and the Frontier League. The Eastern League had the talent. They had the money. It's where anyone who was anyone in the country was at and no one else mattered. They actively thumbed their noses at their Frontier League siblings from the West. And for good reason....the Frontier League was basically a minor league compared to the Eastern. An ace pitcher in the FL? He'd be lucky to crack an EL's team bullpen. Whoever wins the MVP out West? MIGHT be a utility guy in the EL. Might.

In this thread I'm going to tell the story of the biggest underdog in the underdog league....the Fort Wayne Summit. The majority of the storytelling will be done through a newspaper chronicling everything- the Summit and their quintessentially Rust Belt owner and GM (to be introduced later), the Frontier League, and the UBL as a whole. The main journalists you'll see are Silas T. Pennington and Horace Whitcomb, a journalist and editor at the Fort Wayne News-Gazette. Silas, I'll point out now, is run by Chat GPT, a passionate, opinionated reporter tasked with following the Summit. Horace, the pragmatic, straight to the facts editor, will focus on the league at large. I WILL post screenshots of standings, league leaders, star players and record holders at the end of every season, but I want to actually stay interested in this save and tell a story.
We boast one of the best pitching staffs in the game -- along with a couple of highly-touted prospects looking ready to make the jump.
The key, as has been for the past few seasons, is building an offense which can offer them enough run support to allow them to be successful.

The Rockies Reset | Price Bishop’s GM-Only Franchise

The Colorado Rockies introduced Price Bishop as the club’s new general manager on March 1, 2026, handing the keys to a franchise in need of direction, discipline, and a long-term plan. For Bishop, the opportunity is not simply about taking over a major league team. It is about building one the right way.

Bishop arrives in Colorado with a clear vision for what the Rockies must become. The goal is not to chase quick fixes or paper over deeper problems with short-term moves. The goal is to build a sustainable winner, one that can compete year after year through smart roster construction, stronger player development, and a farm system that consistently produces major league talent.

That vision begins with identity. Under Bishop, the Rockies will place a premium on developing their own players, especially impact talent up the middle, reliable starting pitching, and arms capable of handling the unique demands of Coors Field. The organization will emphasize scouting, patience, and role clarity, with every player in the system expected to fit a larger plan rather than simply fill a temporary need.

Bishop’s approach is rooted in balance. The Rockies will look to strengthen the major league club while also protecting the future, avoiding the kind of short-sighted decisions that can leave an organization stuck in place. Prospects will be valued properly, development will matter, and every move will be made with the long view in mind. The expectation is not just improvement, but meaningful progress toward building a roster that can hold up over a full season and eventually contend in the National League.

Just as important, Bishop understands the challenge in front of him. Winning in Colorado demands creativity, discipline, and conviction. It requires building a team that is not only talented, but constructed with the ballpark and environment in mind. That means valuing athletic defenders, smart hitters, and pitchers with the traits needed to survive and succeed at altitude.

For Rockies fans, the message is straightforward: this is a new beginning built on structure, patience, and purpose. Price Bishop is not arriving with empty promises. He is arriving with a plan. And from March 1, 2026 forward, the Rockies will begin the work of becoming the kind of organization that can win not once, but consistently.

Field of Dreams — All the Teams in Baseball History (yes all!)
A Cross-Era Tournament in OOTP 27

Using Out of the Park Baseball, this project brings together legendary teams from every era of the sport — from the Deadball Era through the modern game — and places them into a single elimination tournament to determine which club truly stands above the rest.

And this is not a brand new experiment. Maybe you have been following this already.

Over the course of the project so far, more than 260 series have already been played, producing dramatic upsets, legendary pitching performances, and unforgettable showdowns between baseball icons separated by generations.

With the release of OOTP 27, the tournament continues.

Tournament Concept

The idea is simple:

Take great teams from across baseball history and let them play.

No hypotheticals. No debates. The games are played out on the field.

Every series becomes a clash of eras:

Deadball precision vs modern power.
Hall of Fame pitching vs explosive lineups.
Franchise legends facing opponents they never could in real life.

Babe Ruth might face the Big Red Machine.
Ty Cobb might challenge the Bronx Bombers.
The Boys of Summer might meet the Steroid Era.

This tournament is designed to explore the greatest question in baseball history:

Who really wins when eras collide?

Tournament Format

• Historical teams imported into OOTP
• Series played in neutral historical environments
• Full statistical results recorded
• Series MVPs recognized
• Tournament advances round by round

Every matchup is played out and documented as part of the ongoing chronicle of the tournament.

Where the Tournament Stands

The Field of Dreams project has already produced:

See all the previous series here - Original Field of Dreams Thread (Series 1–260)

• 260 completed series
• Hundreds of legendary player performances
• Franchise showdowns spanning over a century of baseball history

Some teams have advanced.
Others have fallen early in dramatic fashion.

The road to the championship is long, and the surprises continue.

What YouÂ’ll See in This Thread

Each update will include:

• A preview of the matchup
• Game-by-game results
• Key performances and turning points
• The Series MVP
• The advancing team

Think of it as following a historic postseason where every era of baseball is invited.

The Journey Continues

With OOTP 27 now underway, the Field of Dreams tournament moves into its next chapter.

More legendary matchups await.

More debates will be settled on the field.

And somewhere among the surviving teams, one club will ultimately stand as the greatest team in baseball history.

For years I’ve had an idea that I keep coming back to: a single baseball season where the greatest players from every franchise in history take the field together. This of course is a QuickStart game for most OOTP versions.

Not an all-time tournament.
Not a quick simulation.
One full season.

A 162-game grind where every franchise fields the greatest roster it can possibly assemble, and the best team in baseball history is crowned.

I’ve attempted projects like this before. Some of you on the forums may remember earlier versions. They were ambitious, but they never quite made it all the way to the finish line. This time is different. The structure is locked, the tools are ready, and I’m committed to seeing the entire season through.

Welcome to the **Cooperstown League**.

---

**League Concept**

The Cooperstown League is a historical super-league played entirely within OOTP. Each franchise will build a roster composed of the greatest players who ever appeared for that team during their Major League careers. The result is a league where every roster represents the peak identity of that franchise’s history.

For one season, eras collide.

Deadball legends face modern power hitters.
Hall of Fame pitchers stare down lineups filled with MVPs.
Icons who never met on the field finally do.

And every game counts.

---

**League Structure**

The league will mirror the modern MLB structure as closely as possible.

* **30 teams**
* **162-game regular season**
* **Universal Designated Hitter**
* **Interleague play**
* **Modern playoff format with Wild Cards**

At the end of the season, one team will be crowned the **Cooperstown League Champion**.

---

**Franchise Structure**

The league includes the current MLB franchises with three adjustments.

Removed teams:

* Arizona Diamondbacks
* Tampa Bay Rays
* Colorado Rockies

Added teams:

* **Negro League Legends** – a roster composed of the greatest Negro League stars available in the OOTP database
* **Montreal Expos** – representing the full history of the Expos franchise
* **Asian MLB All-Stars** – composed of Asian players who appeared in Major League Baseball

This keeps the league at **30 teams** while expanding the historical scope of the project.

---

**Roster Rules**

Roster construction is where the project becomes most interesting.

1. **Players cannot be duplicated.**
Once a player is assigned to a franchise, he cannot appear on any other roster.

2. **A player must have appeared for the franchise at some point in his MLB career** to be eligible for that team.

3. **Competitive allocation rule.**
If a player appeared for multiple teams, he may be assigned where he best helps maintain competitive balance across the league.

For example, if a player like Pedro Martínez appeared for both Montreal and Boston, he may be placed with the Expos if that improves league balance rather than simply stacking an already strong Red Sox rotation.

The goal is not to create a few unbeatable superteams. The goal is to build **30 competitive historical rosters**.

---

**Season Coverage**

This will not be a background simulation.

Every day of the season will be covered.

Each game will receive a summary, and every day will feature a recap show modeled after **MLB Tonight**, breaking down the biggest performances, pitching duels, standings changes, and emerging award races.

Stats, standings, and leaders will be tracked throughout the season as the league unfolds.

---

**Where Things Begin**

Roster construction will begin one franchise at a time, with each team getting its own thread as the roster is built step-by-step. Once the league is assembled, Opening Day will begin the long road through a full 162-game season.

This project is about the joy of baseball history — seeing legends share the field, debating roster decisions, and watching a season unfold where every team represents the best version of itself.

The Cooperstown League is finally ready to begin.

Let’s build the teams.
