WBL 2039: 31-32. Draft Day.
After leading the league a few times, and starting 6-0 we have slumped quite badly.
What is the cause I hear you ask?
Remember those guys from earlier on?
The "Heroes?"
They're all out.
For at least 4 months each.
Drat.
Come draft day my scouts assured me that we'd found a winner, a local lad. Willi Friedman. He was going to hit over 300 each year in CF, great contact hitter. Needless to say he was our first choice.
But here's the interesting thing. They posted the top 10 prospects, and I ran it by my guys. Not one of them rated a mention in their books.
This could get interesting come contract evaluation time.
We're still 19th in attendance and 20th in salary. That's okay. We're going to punch above our weight.
The bright side? Greg Reily. The boy from my home town is hitting 389 with 25 homers and 60+ RBIs. The fans love him. Lets hope he can keep people coming through the turnstiles.
Heres hoping we can make a run for the playoffs .
Editors note: It turns out I have the game year wrong. Helps if I get these things straight. Rather than go back and edit it we'll just pretend that it's a year later.
Addendum: "Anthropomorphism - attributing human characteristics to things that are not human. Like feeling sad tinges as you can 5 guys on draft day from your reserve roster knowing that they will probably never play ball again. Even though they are a series of bytes on your hard disk."
