OOTP: the story-telling baseball game

I'm not normally one to play with a historical or real-life MLB universe. I greatly prefer a custom-built baseball world, in which I can correct all of the "flaws" I see in MLB as a business. However, I discovered that when I play out the future with the real MLB history as its foundation, sometimes the stories within become even grander. The deeper one goes into the game, the more one sees, and the more that particular universe ties into the real world. One begins to ask one's self, "What if this really happened?" One finds that the experience becomes that much richer simply because it is possible. It brings the imagination to life.
So what is OOTP? A game, a simulator, a mere plaything... an author of baseball stories. Each time a new game's begun, a new tale is told. All they need is someone to tell them.
