Pirates 2013 season Review: August

August saw us manage to stay above .500 for the 2nd straight month. We finished the month with an overall record of 69-65 and 12.5 games out of first place.
The staff was led by Brandon McCarthy as he cruised to a 2.31 ERA and a 4-1 record in 5 starts. Francisco Liriano had his first rough patch of the year going 1-2 with a 5.58 ERA in 5 starts. Chris Perez was dominant converting 7 saves in 8 opportunities and posting a 1.16 ERA in 16.1 IP.
Russell Martin was hot batting .326 with 15 RS. Neil Walker also contributed with his .333 BA .395 OBP and 15 RS. Starling Marte continued his struggles in 2013 (.198 BA .247 OBP)
