Here you will be able to follow the baseball history as it happen in real life via OOTP12. So expect nothing fictional as I use the real leagues and team rooster as they were (except for the line-up). The only real element of surprise is the injury factor and of course the OOTP factor.

Hope you will enjoy and don't hesitate to comment on special event that happen in those years (as we have real expert here it's a good way to learn about the baseball past history).

Disaster in Washington

Posted 08-01-2011 at 11:47 AM by AESP_pres (A simulation from 1871 to ?)

A little bit more than a month later it's the end of the professional baseball in Washington. This is now an evidence that awarding the city a second franchise was a bad idea... First a winning team wasn't able to survive and now the new franchise is disband.

The Nationals were unable to reach any success as shown by their record (2 wins in 11 games).

Not a single player was able to secure a spot with one of the remainning nine teams to end the season.

2 teams at Washington was one too many

Posted 08-01-2011 at 11:34 AM by AESP_pres (A simulation from 1871 to ?)

Even if the league confidence in the Washington market was high enough last winter to gave a second franchise to the city it was too much for this market.

Today (05/23) was the end of the Washington Olympics. The team did survive two years and got a winning record (22 wins - 19 losses).

Some of the team players were able to sign with a new team following the disbandment of the franchise.

Asa Brainard (Middletown)
John W. Glenn (Washington, Nationals)...

The end of 71

Posted 08-01-2011 at 03:41 AM by AESP_pres (A simulation from 1871 to ?)

After a first season it is now evident that a professional league of baseball is a viable option. But sadly it was not viable for all the markets as three teams didn't survive after this season...

Fort Wayne had a lot of financial difficulty as the attendance was low wich brought a biggest problem as the players were poorly paid and many of them leaved the team. The team wasn't able to recover and played its last game the august 29 (a 7 to 6 win against Troy).

Rockford...
