Sal Bando (.222, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB) hits a three-run home run and scores three runs, Joe Rudi (.800, 3 RBI) hits a three-run double, while Billy North (.444, 2 SB) has three hits and two stolen bases as the Athletics destroy Kansas City 12-3 in front of 26,770 at Royals Stadium. Tom Poquette (.667) has four hits for KC, but Dennis Leonard (0-1, 40.50 ERA) fails to make it through the second inning, allowing six runs on six hits.
New York Yankees at Milwaukee Brewers

Torre (.556, 2 RBI) has four hits on the day - all singles - and John Milner (.625, 1 HR, 1 RBI) hits a solo home run as part of a three hit performance to key the New York offense. Chicago had tied the game in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Jose Cardenal (.444, 2 RBI), who has four hits as well - including a pair of doubles.

Pete Mackanin (.500, 1 RBI) hits a two out, RBI single in the bottom of the 12th inning off of Cardinals closer Al Hrabosky (0-1, 6.75 ERA) to lead Montreal to a 4-3 win at home.
