With only a week left in the first half of the 2012 season, some teams are building on their division leads while others are trying to meet expectations and stay in the race.

In the Atlantic Division, Maine has opened up a 5 game lead on 2nd place Massachusetts. Maine did suffer the loss this week however, of Jesus Quinones, an outfielder they had signed as a free agent during the off season. Quinones suffered a fractured skull in a game against the New York Liberty, putting an end to his career at the age of 30.

Thirty-seven year old Virginia sp Edward McPherson is pitching like his career is far from over and he has helped Virginia to a 17-2 mark in May as they lead the Southern Division by 6 games over the defending SL East champion, Georgia Rebels. Georgia is struggling through a season of injuries while also struggling to stay above .500.

What ever team has the best current win streak in the Western Division will be the current division leader. Illinois and Arkansas currently share that lead with both teams only 1 game over .500.

Nebraska leads the Plains Division by 5 games over Kansas with the help of a homerun hungry Melvin Brumbach, who has a league leading 15 in 41 games.

Wyoming, Montana, and New Mexico once again share the division lead in the Mountain Division, all tied with the 4th best record in the league. Last place Colorado is only 3 games behind the 'big three.'

In the Pacific, defending SLCBA Champion California lead 2nd place Arizona by 6 games. Last season each team in the division finished under .500, this season California is the only team above .500. Arizona has a team that can compete, however Washington and Nevada need to make plans for next season.
