In a closely contested series, the Rangers lost to the Brewers in the full 5 games. The Brewers powerful offense proved to be too much for the Rangers over the course of the series and the Rangers pitchers gave up a few too many walk, hits and homers to pull out the series. The series went as follows -
Game 1 TEX 4 - MIL 3 (in Texas)
Game 2 MIL 4 - TEX 3 (12 inn) (in Texas)
Game 3 MIL 5 - TEX 1 (in Milwaukee)
Game 4 TEX 5 - MIL 2 (in Milwaukee)
Game 5 MIL 4 - TEX 2 (in Texas)
Riley Payton had the following comments after the loss, "This was a close series and you have to give the Brewers credit. We just couldn't quite get it done. I wish I had Game 2 to do over again - I went to the bench and bullpen too soon and it might have cost us that game."
Milwaukee then took the momentum from the Rangers series into the World Series and swept the Cubs in 4 games to win it all.
