Exciting win! Steven Lewis, playing 1B today, put us on the board with a solo HR in the 1st, but we had trouble getting much going and Bethalto took the lead late. It was starting to look all too familiar, but this time we came back. The big hit came from 3B Ken Jordan, who had just signed with Staunton out of this year's draft (4th round) and was playing in his first game. He came up with a 3-3 score, 1 out and...

Freeburg 6, Bunker Hill 4 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

Tough loss. We led in this one but blew it late. C Pete Sherman had the big hit for the Firedogs. Tied 4-4 with two on and two out in the 8th, he delivered a double and put Freeburg on top 6-4. We tried to mount a comeback, loading the bases with 2 out in the 9th, but Steven Lewis flew out to end the game.

1880 Season

We finished in first place in our league. Reds were 53-32 and off to their third championship appearance against Baltimore Orioles, my first team.

It was ugly, we were swept in four game by a total score of 31-12.

Off to next year.

Freeburg 9, Bunker Hill 7 (MEBL -- Low Minors)

We almost came back late, but just didn't have enough and our winning streak is stopped at 5. For Freeburg, Richard Dobson (SP) evaded trouble for nearly 7 innings and got the win. We had our chances in this one to put up more runs, but left 14 on base. Still, it's nice to see our offense going. Now we just need to hold the other guys' offense down.
