Senators Sweep
April 20th, 1950 (Thursday)
W/L record 0-3
The Washington Senators completed a three game sweep of the Philadelphia Athletics last night at Griffith Stadium by a score of 4-1. Behind the good pitching of Connie Marrero, the Senators capped the win with a three-run seventh inning off loser Joe Coleman, who struggled with control in the middle innings.
The Athletics continued their early season hitting with eight off Marrero, however they were unable to capitalize, stranding eight. Elmer Valo was three for four, and center fielder Sam Chapman went two for four. The game was filled with close calls both on the bases and behind the plate.
The A's leave Washington 0-3 and head home to take on the Boston Red Sox.
