So I scaled down my idea to this simpler premise:

------------------
B.A.T.: The Bylexian Assimilation Tournament -- An OOTP11 Science Fiction Dynasty

Premise: It is the year 2374, two hundred fifty nine years after the human race was finally conquered by the warmongering Bylex.

The war had lasted five decades and decimated much of humanity. An estimated 539 million humans remain, far fewer than the 12 billion who had populated Earth when space-faring got underway in the 23rd century. All surviving humans are now enslaved to the Bylex, and they are scattered among hundreds of Bylexian-ruled star systems. Most wish they had not survived.

The Bylex are an authoritarian race controlled by 15 ruling houses. Each house dominates a different sphere of known space. They do not trust each other, but war among the houses -- once a frequent affair -- has not occurred since the onset of the Bylex-Terran War. Governance is through a Presidium of three House leaders chosen by their peers.

But rivalry among the houses is still fierce, never more fierce than during annual B.A.T. -- the Bylexian Assimilation Tournament. Its involves a centuries-old human sport known as baseball, a game played on a grass diamond using a round ball, a wooden stick known as a bat, and leather gloves.

It is one of the few remnants of human culture that the Bylex have allowed to continue.

Each of the 15 Bylexian Houses fields a team of 25 human slaves in the annual competition. The 15 teams are divided in three divisions. The winner of each division, along with a fourth team known as the “wildcard,” enters in a post-season competition for the B.A.T. championship.

The tournament is played out on 15 fields on Throon, a desolate planet in neutral space. Ruling members of each Bylexian House are usually in attendance, either in person or by holographic transmission. Between games, the ruling members engage in diplomacy and bartering, revelry and debauchery. The rulers are even known to trade human players to better their teams.

On Throon, the human ballplayers live in horrid conditions -- no climate control, no sewage systems, gruel for meals.

Much is at stake in the B.A.T. For the rulers of the Houses, bragging rights and pride are at stake -- and family members are known to make huge wagers during the tournament. In addition, the winning team gets to choose one player from each of the other three teams in the postseason. In effect, the rich get richer.

For the enslaved humans -- victory may mean a better meal, less squalid living conditions. Defeat -- if the House leadership is sufficiently enraged -- may mean death to the player. And to his family.

Our reports begin with a timeline of the events in human and Bylexian history leader up to the first B.A.T.
