Whether health care is a right or not is, I think, matters far less than the practical, pragmatic question of how society should be organized, with what practices and principles that allow for the greatest well-being of that society and its members.
When one looks at the real-world data, the results are clear: those developed countries with some form of single-payer, universal health care system (1) spend less on health care as a share of GDP than does the United States; and (2) the medical outcomes in those countries is at least as good, if not better, than the U.S.
