Last Week (1-6): 1-2 @ STL, 0-4 vs. CIN
  • 9/15: PIT 7, STL 0 - Liriano was electric in earning his 20th win as he went the distance allowing only 3 hits and striking out 7. Pedro Alvarez led the offense going 1-4 with a 3 run HR.
  • 9/16: PIT 1, STL 4 - Wandy managed a quality start (7 IP 3 ER) but it just wasnt enough as Shelby Miller pitched well (6.1 IP 1 ER) for his 12 win of the season.
  • 9/17: PIT 6, STL 7 - Burnett didnt have his best stuff (7 IP 4 ER) but the offense kept us in it as Crawford, Marte, Snider and Martin all went deep. Marinez blew the save in the though as he gave up 3 ER and we took the series loss to the Red Birds.
  • 9/18: PIT 3, CIN 5 - Castro pitched good enough for a quality start (6 IP 3 ER) but it wasn't enough as Tony Cingrani was dominant (8 IP 1 ER) and Beau Mills (2-4 2 RS 1 RBI) lead the offensive attack for the Reds.
  • 9/19: PIT 2, CIN 3 - Lincecum (8 IP 2 ER) was on his game and Marinez held them scoreless for 2 innings but Innoue couldn't hold on in the 11th as he gave up the winning run and the Reds shaved our lead to 6 games.
  • 9/20: PIT 1, CIN 5 - Liriano (5 IP 3 ER) didn't have his best stuff and the Reds staff was too much as Latos (7.1 IP 1 ER) was dominant and we couldn't stop Billy Hamilton (3-4 1 RBI 1 RS 1 SB) at the top of the order as our lead has dwindled to 5 games.
  • 9/21: PIT 3, CIN 6 - Burnett (5 IP 6 ER) was lit up and we couldn't fight our way back in spite of 2 HR by Pedro and the sweep at the hands of the Reds has forced our lead down to 4 games.
The series sweep to the Reds has us in panic mode. The pitching staff which has been so inconsistent all year long is mostly to blame. The AAA Indianapolis team is down 2 games to 1 vs. Louisville and following that series we should have some help to end the season. We have to work on turning things around now though if we even want to go into the post season with out having to worry about playing a wild card game.

Who's Hot: Starling Marte 9-25 1 HR 3 RBI 3 RS 1 SB, Francisco Liriano 1-1 14 IP 3 ER 10 H 3 BB 12 K
Who's Not: Andrew McCutchen 3-24 8 K's, Brett Wallace 3-20 6 K's, A.J. Burnett 0-1 12.2 IP 10 ER 14 H 3 BB 11 K

Next Week: 4 @ MIL, 3 vs. MIA
