A Question

Amazon Prime trials…what a wonderful thing. My iPhone mount came today, so I’ll be looking forward to taking some nice time-lapse and long exposure shots at night from the tripod. Of course, that also meant getting a new battery for my bluetooth remote. How hard can it be to fins a button battery in Grayling at 7PM on a Saturday? They’re harder to find than you think. Any of you familiar with the WKRP episode “Hotel Oceanview” know exactly what I mean. Of course, winter’s first muscle flex shoots down ANY possibility of pics being shot tonight.
“But Ty…your neuropathy…it’s winter. Surely you can’t be contemplating going out into the frozen wastelands for mere pictures?” Yes, I can. Doctors have proven useless in the fight, but I now have a nice NP (Lauren) who has a head on her shoulders and is aggressive about changing and increasing my meds. My feet are by no means cured, but they have improved. So long as I keep the car’s heat on max at my feet, it’s quite possible. Side note: Hyundai heaters must be made by the same folk who made Ford heaters in the late 80s/early 90s. When clear nights present themselves, Mrs. Cobb and I will trundle out into the wilderness with our faithful ACD and Kelpie companions and get some nice night skies. I’m also planning (more like hoping or praying) that I can snag some nice night skyboxes. I got a nice little Anker USB-C hub to use with the iPad when in the field along with a couple of 256GB micro SD’s (Thanks, Black Friday!) so my field pack is much lighter. For the first time since chemo (now 8 winters ago) I look forward to winter not being a wasted 4 months.
I’ve also been playing with Blender and may start trying to learn the mystical art of placing 3d objects into the skies and background. Custom skylines are the endgame. We’ll see how that goes, as it falls in a far lower priority than skyboxes, re-skies, writing and drawing, gardening, Procreate Dreams, or the obvious #1, family time.
Today’s question: What’s your opinion on the skybox scale here? I’m not talking quality of pic or appearance of sky, only realism of the backdrop. In my humble opinion, the plant life is still far too large to “feel real”. Leave a comment and let me know if you could live with this, and if I should post this here, OK?
Hope you all have a productive Cyber-Monday, and don’t forget that Tuesday is French Toast Day! Grab a jar of Maple Syrup (real, not that Aunt Jemimia or Mrs. Butterworth crap) and some butter and cinnamon and treat yourselves!
