Where to begin

There doesn't seem to be any sort of guide to doing a fulls-scale OOTP mods. Its a matter of reading the manual, searching the forum, and relying on the forum community.
Here's a list of at least some of what I will need for the B.A.T. mod:
--backstory--completed
--league setup
--names.txt
--nations.txt
--injuries.txt
--uniforms
--logos
--backgrounds
There's probably a lot more. But even this list is daunting. And it makes me greatly appreciate the work of those who have done extensive mods already.
