Eckfords Retake The Title
Despite the success on the field in 1859 the Brooklyn Atlantics found the need to replace two of their nine after 3B Tom Countryman and CF Bob Murray chose to leave the game. Also departing the field was Mutuals RF John Burns after only one season. The Eckfords nine remained unchanged since forming in 1856.

1899 Analysis

First of all, I want to say that I'm having a lot more fun with this league than I thought I would have. I'm getting close to the turn of the century, though, and that means that I'm starting to run into more players that I'm more familiar with because I've played simulations with them before. Hopefully, that works to my advantage.

It has not escaped my notice that my core group of player is getting old, and I attribute that to the fact that I haven't been allowing myself to trade...

1898 Hall of Fame Voting

Three new players adorned the 1898 Hall of Fame ballot. The returning players on the ballot were Jim McCormick, George Bradley, Will White, and Cap Anson. The new players were as follows:

Jumbo McGinnis was a three-time 20-game winner and a two time all-star who spent most of his 11-year career in Washington where he amassed 160 career wins.
