Going forward, we'll just cover the draftees that are on the active roster as of today.
Which brings us to our 12th pick (214th overall), right-handed closer Jagger Binson.
By this point in the draft, we could seem to find any potential bull-pen members that didn't have a weakness. Binson's, of course, is his low 'movement' rating, risking giving up home-runs. While in reality this is probably worse than having a low control rating for a closer ... giving up walks tends to irk me even more.
Jagger had been a closer for all but the first year of his ABL career; in 2018 he had a save percentage of .878, down from .949 in 2017. We had a couple of options, but decided to go with Jagger to start.
Unfortunately, despite other-wise pitching better than he ever has before, he's also managed to already blow three saves. This is in part because despite our generally excellent defense, he's seen a BABIP of .306.
We're sticking with him for now based on his 1.27 ERA, 0.66 WHIP, and K/9 of 16.0. But we'll certainly keep an eye out for any changes that might be necessary.
