Question about minor league teams
As I play a historical simulation of Willie Mays career, I control the entire SF Giants team and minors. In between seasons when the parent club changes farm teams or historical minor leagues go under, I lose players on these teams.
How do you make sure you don't lose players when the teams they are disappear from a historical sim? thx

I just discovered that I can go to the team's home page, look at their history from the previous season, click on any player and it still shows them contracted to me, in my lowest level team - but on rosters and transactions it doesn't show the player. When I promote one of those players, voila! they show up on the new team. But it is a royal pain. |

I am about to change seasons again and don't want to lose 1/3 of my minor league players.
What If I move all my minor leaguers to a team that doesn't change affiliations the following year and then sort it out later? I am going to try that after I back up the league.

I took all the players from the teams that I knew historically the Braves dropped as affiliates from 1955 to 1956 and moved them to teams that remained with the Braves. The year rolled over and all the players were still on the rosters from the 6 teams that carried over.
So that's how you make sure you don't lose anyone. It only took about 5 minutes to look up what teams carried over and move all the players to those teams.

FWIW, this is not an issue in OOTP 21. In 1962 the Omaha Dodgers' triple A team goes away at the end of the season, along with the American Association itself. I took a screenshot of all the Omaha players at the end of the season, and then once team/league disappeared, I searched for each player's whereabouts and although a handful retired or were released, the bulk of them had gone elsewhere in the Dodgers' organization.
