Historical start: salaries are out of whack

I’m seeing this in OOTP 25 almost no matter what historical year I start:

Free agents are ignoring the financial settings entirely and asking for huge and anachronistic amounts of money. In my 1986 sim, Sid Fernandez (who, granted, had an excellent year) demanded an 11-year contract with several opt-outs and an average annual value of 5+m.

It makes multi-year sims impossible bc by 1990 you’ve got people on ten year contracts making $11m a year while in the settings it still says that superstars earn $3m or whatever. I started a 2018 sim where Mookie Betts was making $50m a year.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Yes. I don't know if this is the same problem that causes your issue, but here is what I found.

By leaving "import financial settings" checked, as soon as the season ends it loads new financial settings that make zero sense historically. (But may be based on internal mechanics, no idea!)

So what I did is manually set the numbers in the financial settings to what I wanted to about 15% below the accurate historical number for that year, turned off import financial settings and then set inflation to 0-1%.

I will manually adjust financial settings as time goes on.

I was having guys asking for multi-million dollar AAV deals for 11+ years in 1978!
