Online league issues

Downloaded this game specifically to create an online league with friends and it has proven to be absolute HELL. First I had to learn what FTP's were, then how to make one, then how to host one properly. I then had to learn about port forwarding and disabling firewalls. I then had to learn about how to get others to access it. 8 hours later....I finally have everything set up, others can remotely edit folders and files that are in the FTP server. Now OOTP keeps giving me the error "Unable to write to the location, check the folder permissions." I have turned off every firewall on my PC. I have forwarded almost every port on my router. I have tried both active and passive mode in the FTP settings and in OOTP.

So I have a few questions.
1. What am I doing wrong?
2. Why is it so difficult to set up a basic online file sharing function?
3. Why is the online manual for "league setup" not include anything about FTP's besides "Put the info here". There is NOWHERE on the website or manual for FAQ's or troubleshooting.
So my final question:
WHY DO YOU HATE YOUR CONSUMERS THAT ARE NOT COMPUTER SCIENCE MAJORS?!?!?!!

I am guessing the account you are using for FTP access does not have access to the folder on the server?
I am not sure how, but you have to make sure the username you are using for FTP uploads has access to write to the server, not just read from it.

I am having issues understanding how to get the game moving.
I have the FTP stuff setup, but the game itself is years behind baseball, which baffles me. You have OOTP Baseball to go off of. You know what features people need.

We started a league, we are stuck at the initial draft, because there doesn't seem to be a way to have a live draft. We cant hold a draft in our forums because the commissioner cannot "Act As" to go in and input the results manually.

And when we first started, I agree with you. Why does OOTP not offer a basic online league feature out of the box?
Maybe that is a stretch, but then give a good guide with how to get started.

From what I read, you don't have the ability for commissioners to push the new league file out to a server.
They have to manually send it out or manually upload it to the server?
If this is true, what? Why?
You have the ability in OOTP Baseball, so you know the codebase to make it happen.
I understand they are 2 different games, but you should be able to get an idea of what code needs to be used to make different features work.

Then, no disrespect to anyone on these forums, but the people in the hockey leagues are not the same as the ones in the baseball forums.
A post will sit here in hockey and have 50 views with 0 comments back.
