Sketchup question

How on Earth do I get an added graphic to show up in game? When I edit a previous wall advertisement and replace it, it shows up fine. When I add something new, it doesn't show up when I load the park in-game. Obviously, I am missing something.

If you just edit the texture files, those changes will be recognized by the OBJ and MTL files. They will show up in the game automatically without you having to do anything else.

From what you said, I assume you made changes to the Sketchup model (SKP file)? In that case, you need to run OBJexporter extension in Sketchup. That will rebuild the OBJ and MTL properly. Then you will see the changes in the game.

If this doesn't answer your question, let us know what you mean by "add something new".

Imported the Geico logo as an image.

Exported it.

Doesn't show in the game.

What am I not doing correctly?

I would check two things first:

1. Make sure you are loading the correct OBJ file. Sometimes OBJexport creates OBJ in the same folder as the SKP file. May need to move it to OOTP's ballpark folder or designate OOTP to load ballparks from a specific location of your choice. This is different for everyone because we all organize things differently.

2. Did you import Geico as an image only? I think that may not work with OOTP. Safer to import and use it as a texture. Then create a rectangular face and paint both sides with that Geico texture. Since your texture has transparency, you probably want the face to float above ground slightly (1 or 2 inches)

It has to be number 2 of those options. Unfortunately, that is beyond me.

If memory serves, images won’t show up, so it needs to be imported as a texture.

Yeah, I've been messing around but I guess I don't get how to do it. I believe I am creating a face correctly but whenever I tried to add the logo as a texture it makes the background opaque when it should be transparent. I give up.

So here's what I did.
1) Make a rectangle on the area where you want your logo
2) Import the image as a texture. Place it within the rectangle. Reposition it so it looks good.
4) Reverse the face, and duplicate the texture so it doesn't show up as a black rectangle in game.

3) Select the area. Use the push/pull tool to raise the rectangle, I did 1/2".
4) The push/pull made a hole where the rectangle face was. Go under your infield, you'll see it. (I hide the logo so I can see it easier) Use the line tool to recreate the rectangle face.
5) Put the infield grass texture that you are using in the rectangle. You should now see grass behind the logo.
6) The push/pull also creates little edges around the rectangular logo area. If those bother you, you can select them individually and erase them. The logo should be unaffected. Test to see.

Let me know if that makes sense/works!

Made perfect sense. And I was able to do it, but still won't show in-game.

Check your message. I played around with your file. Everything Mytreds said is the correct. Your last problem is the texture itself. The image has some semi-transparency which might cause problems. I modified the image and got it to show in the game.

So, this whole time it was just the lowered transparency of the Geico image. It never occurred to me that I could adjust transparency of textures in Sketchup. I just tried redoing it myself and it worked fine.

Thanks to both of you for the help. It's greatly appreciated!

Well, now I have a different problem. Here's an in-game shot. I have discovered this happens after exporting whether I change anything or not in the .skp file, so it's not something I'm doing. Might be something with the original file? Anyone know what may be causing this or how I can fix it?

EDIT: Nevermind. I was able to fix it. I just reversed the face of it and it looks right in the game now.

Yeah, reversing faces can be hard to keep track of. Glad you got it sorted.
