1970 Draft Missing Historical Mode

I believe REDMACHINENEVERBREAKS had this issue as well.

I'm doing historical mode and just retired a GM/Coach on July 1 1970. T he expansion draft for Buff. and Van. went off OK. The amatuer draft didn't happen though. In NHL edit screen, it says ten rounds are set to go but the events screen even shows no draft coming up. I'll be left filling the roster through free agency otherwise!
Is that draft lost because of the retired GM or is there anything I can do?

EDIT: Well, I fixed my own problem.
I rolled back my save to previous which was on June 28, 1970. I retired my GM on that day, created my new GM and left him unemployed. Then I advanced to July 1, unemployed, and the NHL events screen showed both expansion and amateur drafts. I think advancing employed might have been the same as if I advanced to the new season with the old GM as employed (which is what I did earlier).
