Seasons in Hell is a sports writer's account of covering the Texas Rangers from 1973 to1974. This will be my account of the same team beginning in 1973 and told through the simulation of OOTP 19.

This is a separate account and is not affiliated with the Anthology of the Texas Rangers I am now playing on OOTP 20.

As always, historical lineups and transactions are turned off. I know how things went in real life and I have no desire to repeat that.

I welcome readers to root for their own favorite teams in this as I will keep track of all teams just main focus being on the Rangers. If you have seen my other threads, you should be familiar with my posting style.

In the top of the third, Kelly put the White Sox on the board first with an RBI triple. May brought Kelly home with a single.

After three: Chicago 2 Texas 0.

In the top of the fifth, Allen hit a two out solo home run.

In the top of the sixth, Hermann hita two run blast. Reichardt hit an inside the park home run.

After six: Chicago 6 Texas 0.

In the top of the seventh, with runners at the corners and two out, Bill Gogolewski took the mound for the Rangers and got the final out to keep the White Sox from piling on to the lead.

In the top of the eighth, the White Sox loaded the bases with two out. Allen lined out to center to retire the side.

Wood finished off the complete game shutout.

The White Sox compiled 14 hits in the contest.

Final score: Chicago 6 Texas 0.

Johnson had a no-hitter through three.

After three: Chicago 0 Texas 0.

In the top of the fourth, Melton broke the scoreless tie with a two run homer.

With two out in the bottom of the fourth, Alex Johnson singled to give the Rangers their first hit of the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Carty lined out to center to end the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Sudakis tied the game with a two run homer.

After six: Chicago 2 Texas 2.

Steve Foucault took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the eighth.

Cy Acosta took the mound for the White Sox in the bottom of the eighth. Sudakis put the Rangers in the lead with an RBI single. The Rangers went on to load the bases with one out. Burroughs grounded into the inning ending 6-2-3.

In the top of the ninth, with runners at first and second and one out, Mike Paul took the mound for the Rangers. With runners at first and second and two out, Reichardt flew out to left to end the game.

The White Sox were held to just three hits and committed three errors in the contest.

Final score: Texas 3 Chicago 2.

Broberg was perfect through three.

After three: Chicago 0 Texas 0.

With one out in the top of the fourth, the White Sox got their first base runner when Broberg mishandled a Henderson grounder.

In the bottom of the fourth, Johnson put the Rangers on the board with a two out RBI single.

Melton led off the bottom of the fifth with a single for the White Sox first hit of the game. Leon put the White Sox in the lead with a two out two run homer.

In the bottom of the fifth, Burroughs gave the Rangers the lead back with a two out two run double.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Maddox scored Johnson with an infield single. Madlock followed with a grand slam. Eddie Fisher took the mound for the White Sox. Carty added a two out RBI single. The Rangers batted around the order in the inning.

After six: Texas 9 Chicago 2.

In the top of the eighth, the White Sox loaded the bases with nobody out. Bill Gogolewski took the mound for the Rangers. Pinch hitter Brian Downing went down on strikes for the first out. Allen scored Reichardt when Lenny Randle, playing second, dropped the throw from Harrah. Melton went down on strikes for the second out. Mike Andrews grounded back to the pitcher to retire the side.

The Rangers used a 14 hit attack to overcome their three errors in the contest.

Final score: Texas 9 Chicago 3.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Gary Ryerson suffered a radial nerve decompression in his elbow and will miss the rest of the season.

In the bottom of the first, Otis put the Royals on the board with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the third, Burroughs tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

After three: Texas 1 Kansas City 1.

In the top of the fifth, with an assist from a bad throw by Piniella, Maddox scored from first on a Madlock single to give the Rangers the lead. Epstein brought Madlock home with a two out single.

In the bottom of the fifth, Otis tied the game with a two out two run homer.

In the bottom of the sixth, Healy gave the Royals the lead back with a two out RBI single. With runners atthe corners and two out, Mike Paul took the mound for the Rangers and quickly got the last out to end the inning.

After six: Kansas City 4 Texas 3.

In the top of the eighth, with a runner on first and one out, Doug Bird took the mound for the Royals.

In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner at second and one out, Charlie Hudson took the mound for the Rangers. Kirkpatrick stroked an RBI single. Healy blasted a three run homer. Hudson injured his leg on the final out of the inning.

The Royals got 13 hits in the contest.

Final score: Kansas City 8 Texas 3.

In the top of the first, Burroughs put the Rangers on the board with a two home run. Harrah hit a three run homer with two out. Maddox, in his second at bat of the inning, hit an RBI single. The Rangers scored six runs in the first, four of them were unearned.

In the bottom of the first, Mayberry put the Royals on the board with a two out RBI double.

After three: Texas 6 Kansas City 1.

Mayberry led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run.

After six: Texas 6 Kansas City 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Schaal got an RBI single. Otis followed with his own RBI single.

In the bottom of the eighth, with runners at second and third and one out, Steve Foucault took the mound for the Rangers. A two out walk loaded the bases. Foucault struck out Patek on a full count pitch to end the inning.

With one out in the top of the ninth, Gene Garber took the mound for the Royals.

In the bottom of the ninth, Otis hit an RBI triple. McRae tied the game with a single that scored Otis. With runners at first and second and nobody out, Bill Gogolewski took the mound for the Rangers. With the bases loaded and two out, Healy popped up to first to send the game into extra innings.

After nine: Texas 6 Kansas City 6.

Doug Bird took the mound for the Royals in the top of the tenth.

In the bottom of the tenth, with the winning run on first, Gail Hopkins flew out to center to end the inning.

In the bottom of the eleventh, with the winning run at first, Rojas grounded to second to end the inning.

In the top of the first, Burroughs put the Rangers in the lead with a three run homer.

In the bottom of the third, the Royals, despite not having a hit in the game, loaded the bases with two out. Brown hit Otis with a pitch to force in a run. Burroughs then dropped a Mayberry flyball to allow two more runs to score. Brown still had a no-hitter through three.
