All-Time MLB Legends Rosters
Greetings, I'd like to share a project I put together featuring the greatest 28 players from each MLB team, going back to the start of professional baseball. This is intended to be a for-fun quicksave, which I've currently set up for a single season playthrough with no minors, draft, or player development, but as with anything in OOTP, feel free to customize it to your liking.
Roster breakdown is as follows for each team: - Catcher: 2 - First Base: 1 - Second Base: 1 - Third Base: 1 - Shortstop: 1 - Infield Bench: 3 - Outfield (starters + bench): 5 - Flex (any non-pitcher position): 1 - Starting Pitcher: 5 - Bullpen: 8 (includes 1 "starting pitcher", to represent a long reliever and to increase the number of well-known players, as starters tend to be more well-known than relievers) In order to avoid personal bias, the players were chosen based on the highest career WAR with a single team for each of the positions listed. No duplicate players were allowed, which meant if a player qualified for multiple all-time teams, they were assigned to the team where they had the greatest career WAR--i.e. the team they contributed the most to. Controversies were also not considered--for example, players involved in the steroid scandal of the 90s were still eligible for the rosters. Player ratings were generated using OOTP's historical database, based on each player's "peak" year. This was somewhat subjective, but was primarily based on statistics including WAR, OPS+, ERA+, FIP, etc. Awards were factored in only if a player had multiple peak seasons of similar quality. Awards correlate poorly with a player's peak seasons--for example, Willie Stargell's MVP season of 1979 was actually one of his least impressive seasons statistically. The link works for me even in private browsing, but just in case I've added an alternate DL link outside of Google.
I'm not sure if it will work on OOTP 23 however as it was built on OOTP 24. |

This is a quickstart file, so you'll want to extract the file to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Out of the Park Baseball 24\data\quickstart_games" (or the equivalent where you have OOTP 24 installed). Within there you should now have a folder called something similar to "Legends Mode.quick". It MUST have ".quick" at the end or OOTP will not recognize it.
You can now follow the instructions for "Loading a Quickstart Game" at https://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com...ick_start_game |

EXCELLENT file and really should be the one to replace the default All Time Greatest Quickstart file included in the game.

I'm curious about Babe Ruth. Why is he rated so low?

All of the ratings were generated by OOTP, the best guess I have is that he was lowered due to normalizing by gameplay era. People do often claim that "Babe Ruth wouldn't be able to go against modern pitching". I'm not sure how true that actually is, but the algorithms that normalize for gameplay era seem to be supporting that.
