MBBA has one opening
The Monty Brewster Baseball Association (MBBA) currently has one team opening, the Honolulu Typhoons.
Their owner has been out with medical reasons, and sadly I'll have to replace him. This is really shaping out to be a fantastic league, after a lot of anticipation. Applicants are desired for this opening, and possibly one or two potential future openings. We also need and welcome vultures and Beat Writers. For even more background info on the birth of the MBBA, check out the first discussion string. Please email me with the following info: Name: E-Mail: AIM: How often do you check email: How often are you online using your AIM: Are you willing to write a sim report for your team after each sim: Are you willing to write periodic articles for the league: What interests you about MBBA: Are you willing to assist an established owner: Have you read the constitution: Questions or Comments:

This is shaping up to be a very good league. If you've been looking for a good fictional league this one is for you. We are only 2 months into the inaugural season so you will still be very much able to shape your new ballclub. Our board is hopping and we are getting a lot of team and league articles submitted by our owners. This creates a very cool, realistic setting. It's especially important in a fictional league where all the players are "unknown"! The Commish also brings a wealth of experience to running the league to give it a very polished feel.

definitions.
What’s a ‘vulture?’ Is it a.k.a. a ‘lurker?’ Perhaps just a fan or hanger-on?

A Vulture is someone on the waiting list who is also active in the league despite not currently being affiliated with a franchise. This can be done by writing some articles, being active on the board, etc. A vulture will be given priority over a silent member on the waiting list when a franchise becomes available.

Thanks for the explanation, I am certainly familiar with the concept, but I’d never heard that expression.

I first started hearing the term "vulture" in the ABA. When the league first got off the ground we had a lot of prospective owners who wanted in from the start but there were not enough teams to satisfy demand. A number of them "hung around", waiting to pick at the carcass of a deserted team. In most cases these "vultures" were rewarded for sticking with it as many new leagues tend to have a lot of turnover at the beginning.

And I give mad props to Mark and the ABA for coining the term.

BTW, Honolulu HAS been filled but I have uncovered another opening in the California Crusaders. Please contact me if this is a league you can dedicate yourself to.

We just had two more teams open up in the MBBA. We are going through the normal new league early turnover and are looking for strong, active owners looking for a cool fictional league. We are into June of season 1, so there is still time to get a team and make some moves (i.e. trades). See the application instructions above.

Vultures.
The expression ‘vulture’ has a sort of negative connotation, as the image is usually used in our culture. It’s an accurate metaphor. But those in the position of being ‘vultures’ are usually positive factors in a league, because they are supporting it by following it closely and providing a service by quickly replacing departing owners. That’s what threw me off at first, I had unpleasant general impressions of that bird, and it seemed contradictory to use such a word to describe those who hoved near, ready to resuscitate a flagging franchise.

MBBA needs three active owners
The Monty Brewster Baseball Association (MBBA) currently has three team openings: the Marquette Suns, the Montreal Blazers, and the Des Moines Kernels.
This is really shaping out to be a fantastic league, after a lot of anticipation. We sim three times a week and do live sim shows, which are very exciting. Our last live sim had 15 participants, which is awesome! Applicants are desired for these openings. We also need and welcome "vultures" (actively involved non-owners who wait for a team to open) and Beat Writers.

Bump. Quality league with turnover only because we desire the most active owners (like more than half of our league is). Please check us out.

MBBA has an opening
The Monty Brewster Baseball Association has one opening, the Salt Lake Missions. Owner has left the league due to lack of internet access for an extended period of time.
We are a fictional league, in July of our first season. League was designed to be extremely owner active on the forums and has proven to be such. We do live sims three times a week, which really lends itself to owner interaction and overall league enjoyment. Please send me an email with the following info if interested: Name: Email: AIM ID: OOTP Boards ID: How often are you on AIM? Willing to write a sim report for your team each sim? Willing to write periodic articles for the league? Able to make live sim chats Tue, Thu, Sun at 9pm CST? Have you read the Rules? What interests you about the MBBA? Questions/Comments/Concerns: Hope to hear from many soon. We'll get any interested parties involved in one way or another.
