Reports out of the Philadelphia Phillies clubhouse are that RP Max Scare and 3B Mike Schmidt got into an animated argument following the Phillies shutout loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Don Sutton pitched a complete game shutout in that contest.

This happened the day after the Eagles released their first single, "Take It Easy."

Mike Schmidt & Max Scare are lettin' the sound of their own wheels drive 'em crazy.

I sneaked in a look at the Phillies and saw that the manager has a good relationship with Scare but bad with Schmidt.

To be fair, Mike Schmidt was a skinny 22-year old utility infielder who probably hadn't even grown his mustache yet.

Now I imagine the Phillies manager sniggering to the other players about how this Steve Carlton fella is acting mighty big for his britches.

In the top of the third, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Burroughs then drew a walk to force in a run. Billings followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home another run. Ford then walked to load the bases with two out. A wild pitch then scored Howard from third. Kubiak walked to reload the bases. Then Gogolewski walked to bring home another run. Maddox walked to force in the fifth run of the inning. Harrah then flew out to center to finally retire the side. Eleven men came to the plate for the Rangers in the inning.

Harrah flew to left for the second out. Then Nelson hit a 2 run single. The Rangers batted around the order in the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Unser gave the Indians the lead back with a 2 run homer.

Steve Mingori took the mound for the Indians in the top of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Maddox grounded into the 6-2 for the first out. Harrah grounded into the 5-2 for the second out. But, with Nelson batting, Mingori threw a wild pitch, allowing Vic Harris to score the tying run. Nelson then walked to load the bases with two out. Burroughs then walked to bring home the go-ahead run. Mincher then grounded to first to retire the side.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth. With runners at first and second and one out, Chambliss grounded into the game ending 4-6-3.
