Pete Krull
Quote:
The first photo showing him in a business suit is when he was with his Columbus (OH) City High School team. It's from the Columbus Evening Dispatch of 6/11/1965. The second photo was the best I could find of him in a baseball uniform. He was with Ohio State at the time, and playing first base in that particular game. He also played OF for Ohio State, and was an outfielder in pro ball. It's hard to see, but he's wearing glasses in the photo. The photo is from the Marion (OH) Star of 6/13/1967. |

Lizzie Arlington Missing Photo?
I came across these newspaper sketches of Lizzie Arlington (Elizabeth Stride/Stroud) and noticed that one is exactly a sketch of the only known existing photo of her along with a second sketch where she is looking straight ahead and her face appears to be more visible. This means there is possibly a second photo of her that the second sketch is based on. If anyone can find it please let me know. Thanks.

Del Howard 1904
With the 1913 San Francisco Seals. From the current RMY auction.

Pablo Garcia 1947
From an old RMY Auction. Garcia was with Monterrey from 1947-1953. Unsure if he is any relation to the "Pablo Garcia" who is the current Monterrey head coach.
De-browned and sharpened, because I do that. Last edited by Amazin69; 06-16-2024 at 12:05 PM. |

Tommy de la Cruz 1936
Same auction as the previous pic. The winter after his single season in the big leagues (Cincinnati 1944), the Cuban Hall of Fame pitcher spends the winter hurling for Almendares.
De-browned and sharpened, not for the first time. |

Don Newcombe 1944
From that auction catalogue I've been mining: Big Newk seen with the 1948 Montreal Royals; photo published in November, after it was announced that his 17-6 season had led to Brooklyn purchasing his contract.
De-browned and sharpened, as you probably know. |

Like an Eveready™ bunny, I won't stop!
From the same auction, here's a silver gelatin portrait of Daubert in his first full season, with the Marion Moguls of the Ohio-Pennsylvania league. |

Buck Hooker, Enos Kirkpatrick, and John Grim (manager)
The major leaguers who appeared in the 1907 Lynchburg Shoemakers team photo. That's all who appeared in that one.

Mike C. Davis 1980
From Larry Fritsch Cards on eBay:
Michael Charles Davis (not to be confused with Michael Dwayne Davis of the Athletics and Dodgers) was the Mets' 4th round pick in 1980, out of Wichita State University. He worked his way up, and hit 16 dingers while posting a .759 OPS at Tidewater in 1982. Of course, by then, the Mets #1 pick in that 1980 draft (kid named "Strawberry") was clearly ready for the bigs, so Frank Cashen figured Davis was disposable, and in January of 1983, he disposed of him to Boston, as the PTBNL he owed them for Mike Torrez. Davis put in two seasons with the PawSox and got to frolic with the big boys at Spring Training 1984 at Winter Haven (as pictured here), but after that season he got released and ended up back in Tidewater. Two more seasons there, and the World Champion Mets decided they were, in fact, fairly happy with Darryl in RF, and bid Mike adieu for a second and final time. Proctor is Jerry Proctor, Jr. His father was a track and field champion, especially in the long jump. I found a couple of images of Jerry Proctor, Sr., but couldn't come up with one of Junior.
