Noticing today what I'll call the 14.4 effect

Maybe I am just a contrarian but I am not sure the younger generation is more tolerant than past generations, They are more tolerant of some things but more intolerant of other things. Maybe it’s human nature.

For example I think there is more hatred between liberal and conservative. Less tolerance by non religious and religious. Look at the protest present day at some colleges. I think many would be fine if Israel was erased. Look at how freely the term racist is applied to someone or trying to cancel someone because others disagree with them. Even politicians use threatening language against themselves they disagree with.

Unfortunately, tolerance and respect for others not like us in appearance or beliefs is still a very far off pipe dream.

I shake my head at this sentiment and many others posted here. I am an old guy, working primarily with people right out of college or close to it. Sure, they're different than you and I, have weaknesses you and I perhaps do not. However, I'd much rather work with them than people my age or older.

I think many would also be fine if Palestine was erased. Neither is ok in my mind.

In terms of "racist", my parents and step-father were free to be incredibly racist and no one would ever have challenged them for it. I don't know if what you're describing is better. Although, I don't see the past with rose-colored glasses, either.

Hey, at least it is still faster than 2800 bauds! Anyone that lived in that time knows how slow that was! At least it is like 56k right now. It could be much worse.

Tolerance use to be when you would just ignore things, and move on... tolerance today is so different. Today it seems like people are only tolerant for what they believe in and if you go against their beliefs then, like you said, cancel culture comes swooping in.

TBH I really miss the 80's and 90's back when the political climate and social climate was not so explosive and the world seemed so much bigger.

Back to the original subject...

Slow loading continues - maybe even worse. Not much use posting anything since no one will visit and wait to read them.

Hmmm. Maybe we're being watched. It took me about 5 minutes to post this message.

What's going on here is the company that now owns OOTP have decided that the forums are not producing any revenue, so they are making it difficult to use, shortly they will just eliminate the forums altogether saying that they were hacked or something of that nature and they couldn't fix it.

Trust me, these forms are more than just what you see. They are not going to close the forums down or the devs and beta testers and others that report bugs would all be cut off from each other. These forums are way bigger than just the discussions here.

Actually, I'm rather surprised no one from "Upstairs" has stopped by to at least give us a clue of what the problem is. Some of us are actually interested in the technical problems and how they are going about fixing it.
