Go to the individual player importer (Free Agent screen, far righthand side). Instead of the code it tells you to put in via the example, use the Historical Minors ID of the player you want. Here is a thread on how to find that code:

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=340891

Use that code and then immediately under where you put the code and year, there is a checkbox to also search/utilize the Minor League db. Check that box. This brings in anyone in the Minors db that never made it to the bigs.

Could you please clarify: Is the above a process intended to a) bring in selected minor leaguers one time, b) have the game bring in all career minor-leaguers on an ongoing basis (IOW: "do this once and all minor leaguers will auto-import as you move forward"), or c) something in-between / different?

The steps described perform a. Bring in a single player from the minor league database and put them either in the FA pool or make them draft eligible. It could be a career minor leaguer or an MLB’er but at a point in time when they were a minor leaguer. To bring in more than one you’d need to do it each time or make a .txt or .csv list and use the option in that import pop-up to navigate to the list. Once you select the list and click import, everyone on the list comes in. When using a list you can also add the team code to directly put them in a team.

Can you import them as retired?

No, you can only import them in a year that the db has them, but as Commish, you can import them and then change their birth year and after that you can turn them into coaches (if that is the intent of wanting them retired).
