Thank you sir. You guys do a great job with updates.

For a number of different players their retirement dates are way off. For example:

Jimmie Foxx. He played from 1925 to 1945. HoF 1951. On the his player page it shows his status as retired and his retirement date 2021. (He died in 1967)
Bill Terry. Played from 1923 to 1936. HoF 1953. Status retired. Retirement 2021. (He died in1989.)

There are others. Also although I am using historical transactions, I get weird roster changes. Whitey Ford, a life long Yankee ended up with the Cubs. Hal Newhouser a long time Detroit Tiger ended up on the Yankees.

Are these game glitches or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

You don't... at least for the retirement years. If you don't start from the beginning all the retired players at the date you start list 2021 as the retirement year and I agree it's a little bit annoying.

No idea for the trade thing since it never happened to me... do you use the "player retired as they did in real life" option?

Hi, there! Found another "Caucasian" in the database who actually isn't. Tragic Mets prospect Brian Cole (subject of a "30 for 30" doc), id: cole--001bri .

Thanks, as always.

EDIT: Ron Acuña, father of That Guy, is listed in the database as "Hispanic". He may have Venezuelan heritage, but he's very much "African" in appearance.

Wrong league abbreviation for Real-Life Stats

I attach an image that says it all. Weird league abbreviation. This person was just imported a few days after the world series in a historic sim after 1910 (along with 10's of other players with the same problem). The minor league players are imported fine (manually built by me, not affiliated with major league). All major league players import as "AA" league so they end up in free-agency instead of their proper team.

I do have an American Association League with the historic teams in them so there is an "AA" but the team abbreviations don't match any of the AA teams. Likewise note it does say MLB at the bottom of his stats

This has run successfully for ten game years. Any thoughts?

EDIT: Found Problem. I left the Import Historical Rookies on in the American Association. Even though there was no affiliation, since it has finances it is technecally not a minor league so ALL rookies got branded with the "AA" league label since this was the first league to end its season.

If the top major league (MLB) is the only one left checked they import fine (major and minor leagues).

Trying to do a 1979 game and (as is my wont) I am undoing any trades made during Spring Training, as the game starts before that.

So I sent Mike Easler back to the Red Sox, and I would like to send minor-leaguer George Hill back to the Pirates. Except that George Minor Hill (hill--002geo) does not seem to be in the game. Nor does George Hill (hill--001geo), who played in the minors from 1942-1952, nor George Hill (hill--004geo), whose MiLB days were 1892-1896.

(As this is a 1979 game, George Hill [hill--003geo], who played only in 1980, would not yet be showing, but the odds don't look good.)

Thanks in advance.

Do you have historical minors enabled? If not, then I don't think George Hill (002 or 003) will show up, since he never played in the majors.

Hi Amazin'

Checked the db. He (hill--002geo) departs the game in 1978 (the last year of his stats). Import him directly with a 1978 import date, amend his birthday by a year and you can have him in 1979.

As for hill--003geo, he enters in 1980.

hill--001geo is in there from 1942-52 per the db. His 1951 stat line is missing though.

hill--004geo looks fine too in the db

Intriguing. I take it that career minor leaguers don't come up in a search? Since I searched for "Hill" and found nobody named "George", at all.

Thanks!

(And how appropriate is it that this guy is named "George MINOR Hill"? The Sawx should has asked for George All-Star Hill, instead.)

Er, is there a thread that tells me how to do this? Because if I knew this, I've forgotten it.

Yeah, I don't think career minor leaguers that are before your start year will come up in the search bar. There would be a million of them.

So, go to the Free Agent list, Enter Commish mode, if not already, then look to the far right of the screen for "Actions". Go to Import Historical Player(s). it brings up a pop-up box. Select the historical.database.odb. Then for the ID use "hill--002geo" and for the year use 1978. Then ensure the checkbox for "Include Minor League database" is checked. Then hit ok. He should appear as a FA. He is a year younger than he ought to be, so ensure his birth year aligns with BBR (likely needs to be moved a year to make him a year older).

Ping me if you have any troubles.

No problems, thank you. Hill is on the Winston-Salem roster and who knows what happens next. (Probably gets released.)

So…in 1979, the Sox sent Easler back to Pittsburgh to get George Hill and Martin Rivas, and in 1984 they got him back…in exchange for John Tudor. Yikes. That's almost good enough to be a Mets trade. My sympathies.

Tracy Harris (harris001tra) has his 1978 stats duplicated. Baseball-Reference doesn't know what he did for the Bellingham Mariners of the Northwest League or what he did for the independent Grays Harbor Loggers, they only have his combined stats. The database credits him with the combined totals at each stop, which is clearly wrong. BB-R does know that Harris made 5 of his 15 pitching appearances with Bellingham and the remainder for Grays Harbor, so if you want to try and split the baby along those lines, feel free.

In 1979 Harris, now a pure reliever in the California League, was much more active, appearing 5 times for the Seattle-affiliated San Jose Missions and 64 times for the independent Santa Clara Padres. Our database, however, simply credits his entire stat line to San Jose and omits any mention of Santa Clara entirely.

Thanks in advance.

I'm more concerned with getting this player correct (and I sent feedback to BBR to get the bio filled out)

https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=murray004wil

Because of this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grays_Harbor_Loggers

As for Tracy, the best I might be able to do is remove the duplicate line.

Hello, I believe Ballplayer Crockett (crocke008---) is the same player as Bill Crockett (crockbi41). You can see the real life stats of both players combine to form Bill Crockett's baseball reference statline

Thanks! Found a few others:

Ballplayer Birkenstock (birken001---) is Roy Birkinstock

Ballplayer Abbott (abbott010---) and Charles Abbott (abbott003cha) are the same person

Ballplayer Dudley (dudley008---) seems to have the stats of both Firpo Dudley and Homer Dudley
