PP optimal spend/earn for FTP

My PP has all been spent on targeting individual cards to complete missions, as this was allowing me to get packs at extremely low prices. However now that I'm maybe at 50% done w all missions, the ones remaining are getting expensive (cheapest is like 4k per card and need at least 4 cards).

So my question as a FTP player, at what point (if ever) is it better to buy packs rather than targeted cards? And 1k basic packs, or 8k historical packs?

I am on mobile btw if that matters

Generally speaking, it's never a good time to buy packs. Use your points to buy specific cards in the Card Shop. Two exceptions, 1) On Day 1 of the game some people claim buying packs and selling all the cards immediately can be profitable. 2) When the next version (PT24) is released and most of the player base moves on and your team on the old version (PT23) needs only expensive perfect cards, then the only way to try and get these cards is to gamble on perfect packs.

During the finals months of the game (2024), it's time to buy Perfect Packs and just use up your PP.

I'm not sure myself, but I was focused on completing missions, winning bronze tournaments, and getting packs/cards to sell from those. I'm getting to the point where completing missions now requires getting specific players whose costs are astronomical, though, so I'm not sure how feasible this will be in the long run.

It was probably more doable before OOTP24 came out, because you'd see people putting cards in the market to offset people asking high prices, but as the player base shrinks, the number of people opening packs and selling cards also shrinks, meaning the rare cards will be even rarer, meaning their price will move higher. And on the flip side, there will be fewer new players, so cheap 'beginner' cards will sell for less.

Also doesn't help that some of the rarer mission cards (e.g, platinum) aren't available in packs, so the only way to get them now is from sellers, whose numbers are greatly diminished. That's one thing that bugs me, I think all cards should always be available from packs, even if rare, especially if they're required for missions.

I've gotten enough value out of 23 that I'll probably buy 24 eventually, but not at its current price.
