Anyone ever tried this?
Just curious if any of you have ever tried something like this.
I created a historical league starting in 1936. I turned off historical expansion. Deleted 4 teams to get teams down to 12. Deleted one subleague. Relocated teams to my liking and created new nicknames. I erased all history and scheduled an inaugural draft. Since I deleted 4 teams to get down to twelve, there were enough players to have a 39 round draft. After the draft was complete, I turned on random debut and set my minimum to 1901. I set the first amateur draft to bring 120 random players following the 1936 season and set the draft to 10 rounds. Has anyone tried this. This is basically a straight historical to start, but a random debut from year 2 on. Started in 1936 as it's one year after Ruth retired. DiMaggio is just getting started. I think that is an excellent way to start.
I have done something somewhat similar in the past. Started regular historical in 1895, played to spring of 1901, erased history, etc. set up for random 1901-2000 and off I went. It worked pretty well but it was a little weird seeing Buck Freeman and a couple others hitting 40+ homeruns. Starting off like you did in 1936 might be a little bit better. One big advantage is you do not have HOF players starting in your game in their 40s. Let us know how you like that set up after a couple years. The only problem with 1936 is that Rogers Hornsby and Frankie Frisch are pretty old. Last edited by Reed; 01-15-2020 at 10:30 AM. |
