Historical Leagues Question
i have a statistical league all set up with 16 great teams / franchises from 1969 - 1993, and I'm interested in seeing if OOTP would work for me - this took ten years and pre internet to assemble the data and track down the stats books. Some of the teams are the 69-73 Orioles, the 71-75 A's, the 72-77 Reds, the 76-80 Phillies, etc. Does OOTP 13 allow me to build those teams myself, using different seasons for each player? An example would be, for the A's, Reggie Jackson's '73 season, Catfish Hunter's '74 season, and Joe Rudi's '72 season, or would the entire team have to come from one year, like 1973? Does the game allow me to pick and choose seasons to construct that team or would i have to create players on my own? I'm also interested in how well OOTP's ratings in historical leagues would correspond to mine, or perhaps i should state that vice versa - thanks in advance for any replies i get.

I am 90% sure you can do this without having to edit the players.
I know you can import historical teams, I looked in the manual for info and could not find the page explaining it. I know you can import individual players from any season. I do not know how to mix the two. I would go over to the Historical sub-forum and look through posts there for directions. Good luck, Tom

You could import historical players individually and get your desired result. But you will need to turn on 1-year recalculation of player ratings, including fielding, so that the game uses only the import season as a basis for ratings.

One you get it going, I would be interested to see how things play out... Feel free to post the rest of your all-time-great-era-teams.

@thehef - sorry I never replied earlier - the teams are as follows :
69-73 Orioles 74-78 Red Sox 83-87 Tigers 76-80 Yankees 71-75 A's 88-92 A's 89-93 Blue Jays 76-80 Royals 84-88 Mets 75-80 Phillies 71-75 Pirates 88-92 Pirates 90-94 Braves 83-87 Cardinals 74-78 Dodgers 72-76 Reds As to my question about different player seasons, I will use the 71-75 A's to illustrate: C Fosse - 1973 1B Tenace - 75 2B Green - 73 3B Bando -73 SS Campy - 74 LF Rudi - 72 CF North - 73 RF Jackson - 73 DH C. Washington - 75 Will the game allow me to pick and choose seasons like that? On another note, would I be able to import player photos instead of using the FaceGen option? Thanx for all replies past, present, and future. |

Same as Charlie Hough said - import whoever you want one by one.
You will need to determine your base year and whether you're playing an historical league or fictional league. Historical means actual rookies will show up each off-season; fictional means fictional rookies show up. You'll need more help/insights on any year-to-year progression. |
