1937 WESTERN INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE

Teams:

Lewiston Broncs
Spokane Hawks
Tacoma Tigers
Vancouver Maple Leafs
Wenatchee Chiefs
Yakima Pippens

All teams located in WA except for Lewiston (ID) and Vancouver (BC)

Schedule Characteristics:

SCHEDULE type="ILN_BGY_G140_T6_C_" inter_league="0" balanced_games="1" games_per_team="140" start_month="4" start_day="27" start_on_weekday="3"

Teams play between 131 and 140 games. Teams play each other from 23 to 31 times during the season.

Season starts on April 27 and ends on September 12. Weekday and Saturday games start at 7:00. Sunday and holiday* games start at 1:00. Sunday and holiday double-header games start at noon and 3:00. Weeknight (twi-night) double-header games start at 4:00 and 7:00. No Sunday games at Vancouver. The published schedule lists Vancouver playing a double-header against Lewiston on May 16, which is a Sunday. I believe this is a misprint, as these are the only Sunday home games for Vancouver. I moved them to May 17.

*Holidays include: 5/30 - Decoration Day (US); 6/9 - King's Birthday (Canada); 7/1 - Dominion Day (Canada); 7/4 - Independence Day (US); 8/2 - Civic Holiday (Canada); 9/6 - Labo(u)r Day (all). Independence Day and Decoration Day fell on a Sunday in 1937 -- it's not clear if the following Mondays were treated as holidays, so I treated them as regular weekdays.

This is a PCL-type schedule where teams play single games Tue-Sat and double-headers on Sundays and holidays. It also resembles a PCL schedule in that there is a wide gap between the number of games played by the teams. Attached is a modified schedule in which Vancouver plays double-headers on Sundays and on Canadian holidays. That, along with a couple of other tweaks, evens out the totals so that teams play either 140 or 142 games.
