Get your Coles, Liams and Rileys! As a hockey fan who follows the NHL draft pretty deeply, it was clear I wasn't getting a similar feel in OOTP and the Canadian first names would need an update, so I made one and included it here. Included here are 1,426 names, from Ryan and Josh on down. Please note that this set does not include French Canadian names.

The numbers are based off of:

1) Birth records for Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia for the year 2000, which accounts for about 84% of the english-speaking population. Canada leaves first name stats to the provinces, which do not all publish that far back online. The three above made them available, but others did not. For example, Quebec only goes back to 2009, which is why I didn't make a French Canadian list. I decided 84% was high enough to avoid any further research headaches.

2) A survey of all Canadian junior hockey teams, including both major junior and junior A, which yielded over 4,000 players while excluding Quebecois or French Canadian names. If you have no clue what this means, these players are basically all in the 16-to-20-year-old range. This survey was particularly helpful to this American in setting my nickname frequencies (Thomas vs. Tom/Tommy etc.), though if any Canadians have suggestions on this front, I'm happy to hear them.

As you can see, this list is for games in 2015 and beyond, not for old-timers leagues. Enjoy!
